Peter Sallis, OBE (1 February 1921 – 2 June 2017) was an English actor, known for his work on British television. He was the voice of Wallace in the Academy Award-honored Wallace and Gromit films.
Although he was born and brought up in Middlesex, his two best remembered roles required him to adopt the accent and mannerisms of a Northerner. In addition to voicing Wallace, he played Norman "Cleggy" Clegg in Last of the Summer Wine
That looks more like Walter Matthau than Peter Sallis.
